I called the merchant and was told that WPY stands for We Pay (https://wepay.com/), which is a payment processor - they handle payments for many small businesses and nonprofits - as well as websites like Go Fund Me (which is where my charge was from).

Just to reinforce others statements. We donated to Go Fund Me to help in a medical case. The $ amount showed up on our Visa as, "WPY*Medical and Fa 855-469-3729 CA". I called the number, which was a recording that told me to go to "wepay.com/chargeinfo". My answer there was, "the billing was more than 6 months ago and they didn't have an answer for me". Thanks to the statements above, we were able to figure out what the charge was for.
