What is it?

It’s a scam. They get your info and charge you. All while waiting for you to call them back to get more account info. Don’t give them anything don’t even call them for anything. I called them, gave them my email. And they said they didn’t have any information on me. And I was like then how did you even charge me and the only thing you need is my email to look me up? I just hung up and filed a fraudulent complaint.

That phone number does not work. This is a subsidiary of Ancestry.com and I contacted the Better Business Bureau of Utah through their online form. I complained about the fact that it cannot be cancelled and that to satisfy me, I want 6 months of those charges refunded. I also mentioned that Ancestry.com has a high BBB rating and wondered why when they are scamming people. Anyway...a few days later, I got a note from them that they had contacted Ancestry and they have agreed to refund 6 months that they have been charging me.

The BBB of Utah form is really easy to fill out. The next day after Ancestry agreed, the 6 months payments ended up back in my account. I believe they don't want to ruin their rating, yet they want to make it difficult to cancel, so my advice is to 1/ Try several times phoning the number on your card line item. If no success (the phone never picked up for me), then 2/ go directly to BBB of Utah online and fill out their form and 3/ include at least one line item screen shot showing the phone number and amount debited from your account--just the line item not your entire statement, and 4/ complain that you can't cancel and ask for as many months as you've been trying to cancel.

The BBB of Utah was AWESOME. I couldn't have gotten my money back without them.

I also had a hard time finding out how to cancel this subscription. For those that need the website to cancel it's ANC*Archives.com. I hope that helps!

I thought i was the only one!! I finally reported the fraud to capital one and got these chargrs removed. Thanks for the input from all the other defrauded card holders.

ARN # ..... I disputed this charge with them and they said someone had to have typed in my credit card number for them to be charging my cc account. that may have been me or hacked by somebody else, nevertheless, they have no record of any of multiple emails i mentioned, no record of my ph# - they said the only way they could stop the subscription was to call them back with an ARN# from my cc company, which I did by calling my cc bank. I called them back and they put me on hold for long periods TWICE, and then said their computers were down and I should call back in 2 hours. I told them they were a fraud and said I would contact Utah BBB.

I was seeing a recurring $9.99 payment and it turned out to be a subscription to archives.com that I apparently forgot about (the first month's free, I believe). I had a bit of difficulty finding where to cancel the subscription, but it was given in the FAQs link and I was able to complete the cancellation process. Hopefully, that will be the end of it.

I just noticed this monthly charge on my Gap credit card, arg! I called 888.455.2791 and they were actually very nice and cancelled the subscription. It was a fraudulent charge associated with an email address I had never heard of. She said they couldn't refund me, that I would have to dispute the charges with my credit card company, which is what I'm doing. I'm pretty certain that will not be an issue. They are apparently a subsidiary of Ancestry.com. I have a free account with them, so not sure how it's related. Anyway, for anyone needed help, that contact number helped me and I got to speak to someone quickly. Good luck!

My credit card was charged $39.95 to ANC Archives that I did not make. I believe this is a fraudulent charge that I want removed from my account.

File a complaint with the Utah Attorney General's office as well as the Utah BBB. F****scammers I hope they burn in hades.

are scammers. Lawsuit prevails.Uninstall ad blocker and refund immediately. Was supposed to be free

I was charged for several months without consent and also tried calling the number listed. After researching, I was able to somehow sign into an account on Archives.com (that I didn't create) and cancel the membership. It recognized my email and I just clicked on Forgot Password. Not sure if that will work for others.

Same as complaints above. Where the hell is the FBI when you need them? PLEASE swoop down on this company with badges and loaded weapons. It could be a backofc shell "company" established by a former, clever, yet evil, employee, now dribing around in Bugatti Veyrons. In the extreme, it could be a shell company ( an empty, rented room; a telephone with only 3 answering messages and 45 minute wait times; plus forwarding technology to Ireland or Pakistan or ???) for a terrorist organization that cleverly collects $9.99/month from 100's of thousands of victimized people, who mistakenly think the CC STMT charge is Ancestry.com because of the proximal description disguised to seem like Ancestry.com. What else IS ANC*Archives.com? The genesis of the charge could also be less sinister, yet ever so UNethical because of small print related to trial runs of genealogy research.

To ALL who have needed old documents. I posted earlier re: Fraud of $9.99 recurring charge since March 2022. It is an ANC ARCHIVES TRAP. Turns out the site I went into to order my birth certificate is ARCHIVES related. The phone number 888/896-4442 is a good number. Today there was a 5min wait to spk to a rep. They asked for my email b4 asking my name. really? Then of course, required the date and transaction number of the charge, which doesn't appear with the first post, and only the date appears on the last 3 posts. The rep explained that I must have pushed the wrong button in the site for it to be a recurring charge. Yes, they can cancel it today. And yes, they can refund, but only the most recent charge, even though I explained I only needed a birth cert. and paid for that to be delivered, why would I need to be charged for months when I got what I needed in February? Still, I accepted the one month refund that is to be done in 3 to 5 business days. Must remember to read everything and especially, the small print.

I received a text that my cc had been charged 9.99 by ANC*archive.com. I called VISA, reported a fraud, cancelled my card, filled out a fraud report - all within an hour of receiving the text. Expect a new card next week.

I was informed of the charges by my bank for at least 12 small amounts, $9.99 to $10.65 to an unused acount. I disupted the charges because I have never heard of this ANC*Archive. The bank send me a list of the last year of charges and there was a number listed to call. So I called and of course it goes the Phillipines. She finally agreed after some pressure to refund all 12 fraudulent charges. Still disupting to get any fees refunded.

You can't cancel this membership have tried 3 times because I never got my credit forgot about until it showed up again a month later. I have called them 3 times and they tell me that I did not cancel it but once I tried to cancel online it says already cancelled but still no credits. I am having to change my debit card number and file a dispute with the bank for the charge to stop coming out of my account. Also while I was on the phone trying to cancel, I could hear other representives repeating customer's information back to them.

Charges have appeared on my credit card statement for the past 3 months, That have been brought to my attention today June 20th, 2022. Who is ANC.History.com I googled it. Ancestry.com? What? Why? They have sneaked into some online purchase problem and hidden the charge amongst other real purchases I did online. The odd and ridiculous thing is...the charges are made to a NEW card, that was replacing a card mixed up in an online problem purchase. I cancelled that card... and the new card number, just somehow became a target when I, in February, had to order something through a site to request my birth certificate after moving to Florida from Texas. The oddity is the first charge, for this ANC thing posted WITHOUT a date in March. And with a date of the 14th of each month since April. I make payments to my credit cards without checking individual charges, cause I keep receipts and recall what I have spent each month. My health insurance is the only recurring charge I have coming from the account I GAVE them. And it is NOT this new card number. So, How did this company of thieves get this number? And charges it over and over without contacting me. Google allows for scanning thru titles before you choose which to go into. Believe me, the site I went into at that time was way more than this amount. It was not to be a recurring charge. I paid for delivery of the document. My bank cannot reverse the charges, they say, cause it has been recurring... as though it is my request or my own, fault. The most they did was give me the phone number to call 888/896-4442 Customer Service at ANC -- "the Merchant must request those charges removed". If it becomes difficult, I have been informed to call them again. In the interim, I have placed a HOLD on this new card with my bank. So much for secure sites! Nothing is secure, even with McAfee!!

I contacted Ancestry.com by phone about these ANC*Archive UT charges after discovering that we had been charged for ten straight months unaware. The first customer service agent offered a four month refund, which I said was unacceptable. I asked to speak with a supervisor and got a FULL refund. Press them for your money back! Call Ancestry themselves NOT the ANC Archive Utah number.

Can you help? What is this charge?
