What is it?

I called the 888.717.6583 and spoke to Shane. I disputed the charge and explained that I expected a 100% refund of the $4.95 or I would be filing a claim with the FBI (http://www.fbi.gov/report-threats-and-crime). I kept repeating this through all of her attempts at diversion until she got a supervisor to approve the refund which she said would come within 3-5 business days. Be firm. Be repetitive. Don't take no for an answer.

Did not authorize this charge. Never heard of this company.

It's obvious that healthychoicestherapy.net is fraudulant. They are stealing your information, and using it to siphone money from your account. You can report them at the FBI website (http://www.fbi.gov/). Go to the main website, and under "scams & safety" tab click "Report Threats & Crime". Once at that screen click the link "Internet Crime Complaint Center". Accept the agreement, and fill out the form. I've already reported them, but if we send in more reports/complaints they'll get on em'.

I have the same situation with you guys and just canceled my card and disputed the charge with my credit card company. I will take the advice from Tim W and report my problem with the FBI as well.

Healthy choices scam. Charged me 4.95 on my credit card without me knowing it

Having discovered a strange $4.95 charge, I also had a difficult (and difficult to understand) conversation with a woman at the 888-717-6583 number. I was not able to speak to a supervisor, which I had requested, and https://healthychoicestherapy.com is unprofessionally done (grammatical errors, not much there, etc.) I reported this as fraud to my bank and requested a new debit card.

Scam - just got hit on Sept 5th. They are still at it. Continue to report them until they are shut down! So annoying to have to cancel the card and order a new one!!

BEWARE!!!!! Shut down your card even before you call!!! No sooner than I got off the phone with these thieves. My Card got hit again! I called them to complain and find out how i signed up this scam and went round and round before she gave me a "confirmation" number to cancel. After about ten minutes something told me to check my account. Sure enough it got hit again!!! This time for $49.99 from a company called Irvingia trim. Some sham about eating fruit for weight loss!!!! Next step is the FBI

looks like some weight loss scam... i didn't sign up for this

I TOO was just charged from this website and did not give them permission. I didn't even know who they were. So imagine ALL of the people who are just letting this charge go. They are making a gigantic amount of money. THIS IS FRAUD.

Got a $4.95 charge for June, which I did not notice. Got another one for July, which I did notice. Called Chase and reported fraud. Getting new card. Lesson learned--always look at your statement.

Showed up on my credit card. Called Citibank to report it. They are taking care of it. It was nothing I did. It is a shame companies have to operate in this manner. I have no clue who they are.

Just called to reverse a charge. I had never heard of this company I had supposedly signed up for. They told me they would cancel my membership so there would be no further charges. I told them that was unacceptable, and they needed to refund the charges or I would dispute it the the CC company. The customer service rep then threatened to send me to collections (over a $4.95 charge).

This is absolutely a scam. Not sure how they got enough of my info to actually charge me but definitely frustrating. The website is healthychoicestherapy.net which is supposedly based out of the Bahamas.

After reading everyone's horror story I decide just to call Chase. Spoke to security advisor who credited me back the 4.95 I repeatedly asked him to flag this merchant as fraud and referred him to this blog. I am now in the process of pulling 2014 statements to see if any other charges occurred.

I have received 3 months of false charges for a Healthy Choice therapies on my credit card. It is for 4.95 each month and they did answer the phone when I called the number. They said I made the charges and I needed to call them to cancel in 60 days. This is a scam. This is how they are doing it. Right in your face..they are cowards. They stole my info. My credit card company changed banks so my card was changed to the new bank which stopped the charges. They are stealing info off of the internet. Turn them into the attorney general and the FBI..they need to go to jail where ever they are running this out of. I do believe this is not in the US but in another country so do not let it go do whatever you need to get them...send these folks to jail.

I also received the same charge from this so called Healthy Choices Therapy. Definitely a scam. Reported it, called bank, cancelled card.

I had a $4.95 charge, and when I called 888.717.6583 and went to https://healthychoicestherapy.com, it was pretty clear this was fraudulent. If this happened to you, you're not alone, but you should probably call your bank to replace your card.

This morning on my bank card transactions, I discovered a suspicious looking charge of $4.95 from “Healthy Choices Therap Rockville Md.” I called the bank to report it, and they informed me that the same company had also deducted $4.95 in August. I’ve never heard of this company before today and I have never signed up for their diet program. Shame on me for not checking my transactions carefully each week. Thank God, I caught it today. I asked the bank to block any further charges from them and cancelled my card.

This company is just taking your money. Got charge twice and this is most definitely a scam. You need to call your bank/credit card company and file a fraud complaint against them.

Yes Mega Scam, they hit us a few time on our account in Ireland , and I cancelled a few of them under other names and This one came up too, twice, so we cancelling our card too, and Filling a complain. infuriating .

My credit card company actually contacted me about one of these $4.95 charges. I called them and reported it as fraudulent. They cancelled the card and issued a new one. However, I somehow had missed two earlier charges. I guess the low dollar amount slipped under my radar. I had to call back to report those too. Moral of the story - check your statements.

I used to work for Guthy Renker (Proactiv, Meaningful Beauty, etc.) so I have some experience with fraudulent companies. So when this charge showed up, I knew what to do.

Yesterday, I noticed a charge on my bank statement from HEALTHY CHOICES THERAPY HEALTHY CHOICES THERAP888-7176583 MD US for $4.95. I went to look at previous statements, and found that this recurring charge had been made for 5 months in a row.

I called the phone number, 1-888-717-6583, and spoke to a rep ("Katerina" Agent Code 16) who insisted that I visited their scam website and set up an account (which I clearly did not do). I immediately asked for my account number to file a complaint with the state Attorney General. After a frustrating conversation, I was offered a full refund of 3 months of charges and a 50% refund of all others.

Having declared that completely unacceptable, I again asked for my account number in order to report this company to the Maryland state Attorney General and the FBI. She was unable to give me my account number, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She attempted to put me on hold but was unsuccessful. After a minute of listening to background chatter, she thanked me for holding and told me that her manager approved a full refund in the amount of $24.75 to be issued in the next 3-5 business days.

After verifying again that the account was canceled and the refund being processed, I hung up. I am going to report them to the AG right now. If you get charges from these people, threaten Attorney General and FBI. That worked for me. Good luck!

My account got hit today, since it was only $4.95 I wasn't going to worry about it. My husband advised I just double check with my bank to see if they could provide me with more information. I am so glad I did, the number was keyed in (I have no idea how they would have gotten my card number). Once given the details of their location and when the transaction actually took place I immediately reported it as fraud. I think they process it for a smaller amount hoping people will not notice. If ever in doubt about a charge simply inquire about it, trust me its worth the few minutes on the phone.

They have been charging my card every other month since June. I had multiple deaths in my family around then, so I had only been scanning my statements. I reported it to my credit card company, but they told me to call the company first and get them to take back the charges. When I called the company they claimed I signed up with them on May 15 and gave me their web address to check for myself. I reported them and the credit card company. Account cancelled.

Same thing happened to me today. I filed three complaints - Rockville, MD Consumer Protection agency, Maryland Attorney General's office and the FBI Internet Crimes division (IC3).

Clearly illegal. They are hoping that you either won't notice, won't care or won't take the trouble to do anything about it. They charge a small amount with a phony credit card category (mine was $4.87 under Real Estate Agents/Brokers/Managers as a category).

DO NOT LET THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS. Someone's going to get arrested eventually, I hope to be the one to make it happen.

Just received by credit card statement and noticed the $4.95 charge from 8887176583HEALTHYCHOIC 888-7176583 MD. Based on the comments on this website I didn't bother to call the number and inquire, I just called the credit card company. They reportedly will reverse the charge. We'll next month!

I noticed this charge has been going on my credit card since May 2014. My girlfriend called the company while I contacted my credit card company, and they completely gave her the run around. She was finally transferred to a "supervisor" by the name of Martina, who got very rude and loud by the end of the call. She said she was only refunding my last 3 charges, and when my girlfriend demanded to speak to someone above the supervisor, Martina said she was disconnecting the call. My girlfriend is reporting this to the AG and FBI and will continue to call back until all charges are refunded.

Got hit with this mysterious charge on January 27, 2015. I'm happy for this page of reports which helped me figure out immediately what was going on. I didn't bother to call Healthy Choices Therapy directly, but I called and reported the fraud to my credit card company. They are cancelling the card and issuing a new one. What a pain. I also reported this to the FBI. This is a good reminder to be sure and check every item on our credit card statements every month!

I join the many people above. I noticed this charge on my bank statement and did not know what it was. I called the number and spoke with a customer service rep and she insisted that I had signed up for this and that they would not refund my charges but would be happy to cancel my subscription. I tried to tell her that I had never signed up for this and she insisted that that is why they get all the personal information. I told her that we do not have a computer at home and therefore there is no way I would have signed up for this type of program much less a weight loss program. I went back and looked at my bank statement and found another charge from them. I advised them that I would be reporting this to the FBI and she hung up on me.

Just an fyi, I also received the $4.95 charge two months in a row on my card. The card company refunded the charge and now it is back on there this month. First time I tried to call them at the 1-888-717-6583 number, no one answered and now, this month, the number is no longer in service. What a scam. Work with your Card Company and get a new card issued.

Took me 3 months to spot this charge.. cancelled the CC that it was linked w/ - and called the 888# and demanded to have the charges stopped. they say they will, but who knows. good lesson on why its important to thoroughly review CC statements.

I also was scammed by this company. I was one of the lucky ones. My bank had had a security breach in the past and had canceled my credit card and sent me a replacement. So it was quite obvious that I never talked to them. Luckily they attempted to charge me with my old card and it was declined. I had alerts set up and I received a text message notifying me of the attempt. So we know they were using information from a security breach with at least 1 bank and maybe more. Be sure to turn on all your alerts. It really helps.

on 10/9 I recognized a charge for $4.87 with the description "healthychoices" that I did not make. The charge was still pending but I called my bank to determine where this charge was from. She said it came up as a convenient store charge in Maryland. I canceled my card. She gave me the number listed for Healthy Choices Therapy and a foreign woman answered. It sounded as though she was reading from a script and told me that I signed up for this online on 10/8. I repeatedly told her I did not sign up for this diet service and she just kept telling me the benefits of the program and how it works. I firmly said I didn't sign up and I wanted a refund. She asked for my zip code, my name, and the last 4 digits of my card to "locate my records". This took a long time and then she told me I did sign up yesterday. I again said no, I never provided any information or authorized this charge and she said she could cancel the subsequent charges. I again demanded a refund to which she said she could refund 50%. I again demanded a full refund to which she easily complied with no hesitation and says I will be refunded in 5-7 business days.

Just noticed the $4.95 charge on my card --went back a couple months and found it a couple more times!!! Will be checking my account closer and more often!!!

I just noticed a recurring charge for 4.95. I haven't been checking my bill as closely as I should! (lesson learned). I called talked with Jade (agent 818) who explained that I created an account and she could not do anything other than close the account. I pressed and told her I a full refund or I would be reporting the business to the FBI, and requested to speak to her supervisor. After about 20 minutes on hold, someone picked up. "Mary Diaz" identified herself as 'the manager' and said she could give me partial refund, 2 of the 4 payments. I called my Bank right away, they cancelled the cards, etc, and actually said a few days early they tried to post another chard ($95!!!) but it declined because I was at my limit. Thank goodness! So it appears they're probing a few small charges to see if anyone is paying attention, then hit you with a big one. I submitted a complaint the FBI, as outlined above.

Can you help? What is this charge?
