What is it?

This is a charge from Patreon.com. Patreon is a subscription service that allows fans to pay their favorite creators, such as musicians, writers, gamers and others, in return for exclusive content or a closer view of their creative process. As of 2022, Patreon had more than 8 million monthly active customers and more than 250,000 creators. Since 2013, the company has paid more than $3.5 billion to Patreon creators.

Customers get membership access to their favorite creators as soon as they sign up. Your billing schedule depends on which billing model the creator you follow has chosen. Patreon has four payment models:

  • Subscription bulling
  • Monthly charge upfront billing
  • Monthly (non-charge upfront) billing
  • Per creation billing

Creators who meet eligibility criteria can also enable annual memberships. Some of the top Patreon creators are in the following fields:

  • Video
  • Visual artists
  • Podcasters
  • Writers and journalists
  • Musicians
  • Communities and websites

Why this charge may appear on your card

You're likely seeing this charge because you made a purchase at Patreon.com. If you didn't make this payment, it's possible someone else did, which may be an early indication of fraud.

With subscription billing, customers pay when they join a creator's membership and renew monthly on that same date. You may be charged up to 24 hours beforehand due to time zone differences. If you join a creator's membership on the last day of the month, your payment date will be on the last day of the next month. For example, if you join on January 31st during a leap year, your next charge date will be February 28th. You’ll be charged on the 28th of each month moving forward.

Why you may not recognize this charge

Patreon does not include the names of creators you support on your billing statement. The payment will be processed as "Patreon" and can also look like the following:

  • PATREON* Membership
  • CKO Patreon* Membership
  • PAYPAL *PATREON IN
