What is it?

06/08/2020 - received a charge from PlayStation for 59.99. Did not order anything so I called 800# and PlayStation is not answering at this time. Disputed charge with credit card company and now PlayStation has banned our account. We have paid membership fees and should not be banned for fraudulent charges but I can't get anyone to contact us. Based on multiple websites, fraudulent charges happened to a lot of people on this date.

My Master credit card issued by QNB Finansbank Turkey has been charged for several transactions for my non-existing Play Station account in 11/2020 by PlaystationNetwork and PLAYSTATIONNETWORK both based in the UK as confirmed by my bank. No such company is existent. I checked an actual purchase made from Play Station within Turkey for an online game purchase and the credit card is charged by PLAYSTATIONNETWORK LONDON GBGB this time which also doesn’t appear in the UK company registry. Company’s registered name mentioned below should normally match the campany title on the credit card statement to my best knowledge.

Confirmation e-mail sent from sony@email.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com for the purchase include peculiar statements such as “This is not a VAT/GST invoice.” and “This email has been sent on behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment Network Europe Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom with registration number 06020283, with its registered address at 10 Great Marlborough Street, London, W1F 7LP.” Who are customers actually dealing with if purchase confirmation e-mails are sent ON BEHALF OF them and where is the invoice? Online software purchases are just purchases at the end of the day in terms of accounting and they are obliged to provide an invoice to their customers.

I have ended up establishing a FB group to pressurise Play Station to introduce default two-step SMS verification to avoid unauthorised purchases by junior family members or criminals as well as to collect information on their global accounting system to report any irregularities to the authorities if deemed necessary.

I have also sent an e-mail to info@whatsthatcharge.com to ask for their assistance to bring the victims together so that we can exchange information as I suspect there must be a link for the crime in question.

playstationnetwork charging me a recurring charge of 24.99 without my authorization.

Just recently was charged $60+ on a credit card I haven't used recently. I logged onto my device (PS4) via Playstation's help guide on the issue [https://www.playstation.com/en-gb/get-help/help-library/store---transactions/payments---refunds/how-to-check-playstation-store-transactions/].

I followed the PS4 directions to get into my account information, and as I was browsing around, I found out my PSN subscription started 15 months ago and was automatically renewed.

I then remembered GTA online had a 15 month PSN deal for a 12 month subscription--which I ended up getting.

MORAL OF STORY--If you made purchases for PSN, they might automatically enroll you in auto-debit when your subscription expires, taking money out on a regular basis unless you opt-out.

Can you help? What is this charge?
