What is it?

This is a charge from Assurant Solutions. A third-party company that insures your mobile phone. You have have recently requested a replacement phone, they are charging you a deductible. Hope that helps!

Discovered 5 charges on 7/1/15-7/2/15 for $175 from "AGI*TMO INS Deductible 866-866-6285 PA". This is Assurant Solutions, a cell phone insurance provider for T-Mobile (amongst other insurance businesses). I have never done any business with this company or any of their business partners. If this happens to you: 1) DO NOT call Assurant Solutions 866 number listed on your credit card charge. 2) If you have never done business with this company (but were charged money on your credit card, call your credit card company's "Fraud Department" to report, remove charges, and shut down your card ASAP. This removes your liability, and you will receive a new card. You have a time limit to notify them. This is the only way to stop the charges for good. 3) Per the FBI: Call the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to file a claim. Their number is 877-382-4357. Make sure to get your Reference Number. They are investigating/coordinating with Federal Law Enforcement. 3) You "can" call your cell phone carrier to ask if they are charging you for insurance anywhere on your bill, and ask if they use Assurant Solutions or Asurion. If you can confirm through your cell phone carrier that they are charging you for insurance you did not ask for, and they use Assurant , then this is "bill cramming." You can file a complaint with the FCC at 888-225-5322. Assurant Solutions routinely provides substantial "kickbacks" to companies that get you to purchase their products; and "sometimes" these companies do so deceitfully (or do it without you knowing). You will actually be filing a claim against your cell phone provider, and they have 30-days to respond to the FCC and you. The FCC is quite familiar with Assurant Solutions, and how they do business.

I had a charge of $99 from AGI*TMO and also thought it was fraudulent, BUT I realized that mine was NOT. A couple of months back, I shattered the screen on my smartphone and sent it back to get a replacement. And YES, I received a brand new one. But I forgot that my Co-Pay for was - $99, and I gave them a credit card when I filed the claim. So, in my case, this was legit.

While driving home yesterday my phone started to receive notifications. It was blowing up!! When I got home I checked my phone and saw that AGI TMO had charged my personal VISA Check card 4 x's for $ 175.00 each with in 1 minute or 2 of each other. I contacted my bank immediately and they said that my card was compromised and it had to be cancelled. After the cancellation, I received about 5 more notifications that they tried to run my but this time each one stated DECLINED! PEOPLE NOTIFY YOUR BANK IMMEDIATELY!!!

I was charged 5 times over the course of two days, for $150-$175 each time. Had to call my bank to cancel my card and refund me the fraudulent charges.

It is a T-mobile deductible

For those of you who are not aware, T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon all use Assurian/Assurant to cover phone loss and damage and you should have received coverage information when you purchased the coverage (usually an $8.00 additional charge on your phone bill. (I receive information from them whenever something changes and also their privacy policy once a year). The company itself is a legal entity and not fraudulent and does cover valid claims within a short period of time. Obviously the folks in this forum have a hacking problem - not only with Assurant, but with other companies (it seems). Doing banking via a mobile phone without virus protection makes you a prime target!

I needed to look this up for a reminder: Lost a cell phone, and this was the "deductible" applied for a replacement. I had insurance, so it was far cheaper than buying or upgrading to a new phone. Not a scam.

Had 4 175$ charges to my account 4/20/2016. Called Bank and they cancelled my card and are issuing another one. They told me the money would be reimbursed within 10 days. Contacted FTC and made a report, got a case #. The FTC told me to make a police report with my local police. I found this website and after seeing all the people that were scammed the same way I believe we should all get together and locate this company's home office and file a class action suit against them. The authorities do not seem to be able to put a stop to this , maybe a multi billion dollar class action suit to recover loss and damages will.

This is fraud. I am so tired of this. I called Assurant this morning, like others they said they had no record of me. Of course they don't because I'm a Verizon customer. I called Verizon to see if they possibly knew how Assurant could get my Visa bank card number, they played dumb. PNC bank cant dispute charges until they are finalized. Great. Have the $350.00 taken out , they Ill wait to have it refunded.
I believe Assurant is negligent and should be held responsible. This is theft. How can I be paying for the deductibles of Tmobile customers??? Very Shady!!!!!

We recently filed a claim through AT&T wireless to replace a lost cell phone and authorized a $75 deductible charge. AT&T does use Asurion Wireless as their insurance carrier. On 9/22 I received a call from my credit card (CC) company saying they detected fraudulent charges. When I called them back, they said Asurion Wireless Insurance charged $199 on 9/20 and again on 9/22. I called the number associated with the charge 866-667-2535 and when I gave them the cell number associated with my account, I was told they could only look up T-Mobile accounts. So I called AT&T to see if they could tell me anything. After being passed from person to person, I was finally told that the only charge from the claim was $75 that was being billed through our AT&T account. We had never given our CC card to Asurion Wireless during this claim process. Called my CC company back telling them the charges were fraudulent and they issued a new card to me. Upon receiving my monthly CC statement, I then saw a $249 charge on 8/29 from AGI*TMO Ins Deductible phone # 866-866-6285. As soon as I googled that name, I found this page with the scam warnings. I called my CC company again to dispute the charges then filed a complaint with the FTC at the number shared by another post. Hope this is the last of this nonsense.

I, too, noticed fraudulent charges on 4/21/16 and 4/22/16 both in the amount of $175 to AGI*TMO INSURANCE. It pays to stay diligent and always review your accounts regularly, but I know many people do not.

I received a charge from AGI*TMO INS DEDU last night I could tell the bank the exact time frame of the charge and that it was frad, however I can't do anything until the payment posts to the account. I have been in contact with Assurant that can't find anything in my name I said well DUH I don't have phone service through you guys and my phone carrier doesn't use you for insurance claims. So now I am waiting for their fraud department to call me back, so right now I am out $175, and my account is in the negative and everything is getting returned, this is crazy because now I have to spend hours calling people and fighting their additional charges for returned items, and make payment arrangements. I hate a theif, and trust me will pursue charges againist the person who did this

I received 7 of these charges at $175 each in just the last couple weeks. My credit card is now cancelled. I did not request this insurance service, and I am with T-Mobile but signed up years ago, this never happened until now. I wonder if someone just took down my credit card number when I handed it over for purchase in a store, although I can't remember doing so recently. And the card is in always in view so I don't think anyone's copied it down that way. If anyone's thinking the same, I live in the Seattle, WA area, and visited the Denver, CO area recently, maybe this happened as a result of our recent Christmas sale shopping? If not, did an online retailer I shop at get hacked?

5/25/16 Received notification from fraud - Chase VISA that our account had been charged $175 by AGI*TMO Insurance Deductible. This is a FRAUDULENT company who hacks into accounts and charges $175 for bogus insurance to cover cell phones. Others mentioned T-Mobile in their reports as their cell phone carrier and this is where AGI charged the most. We do not use that carrier. Of course, some creep hacked into some place we used our card and tried to get away with it. We rarely use credit cards...especially on-line. This is why!!! Our suggestion is to call your credit card or bank immediately upon any notification or suspicion and have card cancelled immediately. Chase Fraud questioned this $175 charge via email notification within minutes of us finding the illegal charge. SUGGESTION: CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS EVERY DAY! CREDIT CARDS, BANK ACCOUNTS AND DEBIT CARDS! BE ALERT! If any bells go off...there is probably a problem! You are responsible to be responsible! Act quickly!!! We caught a huge fraud/scam going through Western Union last fall which could have zapped our checking account for nearly $500. We stopped them in their tracks so fast that the "receiver" in California was apprehended as he went to pick up "his" money! Helped to blow this scam up and put one of the jerks behind bars!!!

The bank contacted me about potential fraudulent charges. I had a charge for $175 to the Red Cross, a few for $0 and one for $1.91 at a hotel in Missouri. I also had two charges for $175 within 7 minutes of each other charged to AGI*TMO. I called them with the number provided (using phone blocking and punched in all nines for my cell phone number) and spoke with them. They stated they CAN'T reverse the charges that I should have my bank investigate for fraud. They stated they verified the address and security code associated with the code. I would tend to think they are lying about this. I also called Red Cross and they stated they rejected the charge since there was no address or email provided and they don't require the three digit security code. They stated the crooks usually "test" the card this way to see if it's viable. So either they don't have the address and security code (I'm going with this one) or they didn't use it so it would be rejected and they could use that money elsewhere. In doing a search, it appears this is happening quite frequently. I would venture to guess that although Assurant is a legit compnapay, someone is benefiting from these charges. How could so many people need to steal credit cards to pay their deductible so many times? Something is going on here. I am writing to the CEO Alan Colberg. He can also be reached at (305) 253-2244. Fraud.

To echo everyone's comments: My card was recently compromised to the tune of $3,300. Victoria's Secret online: $2,000 Dillards online: $800 Academy Sports online: $80, another charge for $100 IDK the company, and then this $175 to agi*tmo ins deductible....At the time I reported the issue, the $175 was still in pending status and wasn't included on the initial dispute paperwork. The bank canceled my card but this charge still went through a couple of days later. In addition to these charges, the Academy Sports order showed up to my house. The fraud department stated that these thieves are now shipping the goods to your address and attempting to beat you to the package.....very scary.

Can you help? What is this charge?
