What is it?

The charges for "Snack, Soda, Vending" on my bank statement were from the Sprinkles Cupcake Vending Machine in Beverly Hills. I hope this helps.

I paid for a simple snack at my job and the machine charged me way more than what that snack said it was. I have no idea why it posted in my card as more than what it is.

Often times the machine will "pre-approve" your card for a few dollars more than the most expensive item in the machine. This way, you can buy multiple items in one transaction. Say you buy something that is $.85, your bank site may say the pending charge is $5 but when it clears, it should go to the actual price. If it does not, then you need to contact your bank/the company. Be patient though! It should correct itself when the charge clears.

Mine was to buy tokens for the carousel at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle

"SNACK SODA VENDING MALVERN PA" is your charge card's generic line description for USA Technologies (full information given below). USA Technologies makes and operates their ePort, the leading front end for credit card swipe capability from vending machines. These new devices are everywhere, including on vending giant Aramark's hundreds of thousands of machines nationwide. If you made a purchase using your charge card on a vending machine, chances are good that you will see this on your next statement.

We have had our own difficulties, with $5 and $10 charges for products costing around $1. Aramark's customer service claims that this is normal and that it refunds back the difference, but we have been overcharged on three separate occasions and I have launched an investigation. You should as well, if this happens to you. You should also check to see how long it has been happening. We saw such activity over a three-month period, which means that hundreds or thousands of consumers at our location may have been affected. Contact the local vendor of the machine, your credit card company, and USA Technologies:

These hit my account when my atm card was skimmed. According to my bank, there are people using this to "test" generated or compromised card numbers. They hit up a batch of card numbers with small, easy to miss transactions and see which ones get through before making larger withdrawals. While there may be legit vending services somewhere by the same name, be careful if you see this show up in your account statements and don't know for sure where it came from.

Mine was from a pay station at an automated car wash in Lawrence KS.

It can also show up as Modern Leasing, still out of Malvern Pa - it was a vending machine at an interstate rest area in Kentucky.

I thought fraud at first. Then realized the $2.00 charge showed up right after I used my card to ad air to my times at a gas station. The charge clearly stated on the machine was $2.00. Hated to pay that when I needed a few pounds of air in just one tire, but figured it was work it to not have to drive around, hope another machine took anywhere from 4-8 quarters to get air without it miscounting. So extra $0.50- $1.00 was worth it and turned out is was a legitimate charge, The company needs to use a better name depending on the type of vending machine as I would have normally never associated 'Soda' with a machine to air up my car tires. I probably wouldn't have remembered if I Hadn't seen the charge within 30 minutes of having aired up my tires for $2.00.

I got ice at one of those free standing water and ice buildings!

I called my bank for those charge ( SNACK-SODA-VENDING-MALVERN-PA ) and they did not provide me with an explanation, but at the end of the conversation they did agree to remove the chargers and credit me back.

Photo booth at the Rain Forest Cafe at the Mall of America

I noticed a $1.60 charge on my card. I contacted my bank. The purchase was made at 11:15 p.m. Which I am in bed by that time. I reported it to my bank and my card is being cancelled.

Was a charge for the purchase of a soda from a vending machine at my husbands placed of employment in NW Ohio.

"Snack/soda/vending Malvern PA" This charge was for a live bait vending machine at a gas station about 40miles from Malvern. It is legitimate in my case, now that i've figured it out.

if you dont know where this charge from it was probably from a random machine that accepts credit cards. It was probably used to test to see if your cloned credit card worked. After that the thief will use your credit card quickly at a store such as walmart. Hopefully if its out of state use your bank will catch it and lock your card before more charges get put on.

As for the Sprinkles charge, I just spoke to them and that little extra on top of the cupcake price is because you are paying for the little favor box it comes in. They did confirm the address being used right now is Malvern, PA.

Emergency Ice vending machine Dallas Tx, I was over charged, I did use it but it wasn't suppose to be as much!

I called the company which I will list the below for you and the lady was able to look up my transaction based on the first 6 and last 4 digits of my card number with the transaction date. She found my transaction and was able to inform me that the final charge will only be $5.00 verses the $9.00 that my account is pending. She explained that the card readers authorize the transaction at the highest priced item in the vending machine. Once the charge finalizes it only clears for what was actually spent.

Apparently, no one knows what this mystery charge is, so posting an explanation seems impossible. I did not use a vending machine of any kind this weekdend and yet, there is a 5.00 charge on my card. I will be taking this up with my bank.

Snack Soda Vending out of Pa made a charge on my credit card. this is fraud maybe a lawyer needs to be called on this.

Charges from a soda and candy machines in the amenities complex in my community. Was charged $1.75 for the Coke and $1.25 for the M&Ms which is what they were marked as. Took a picture of the items and their prices so that I had proof in the event that If I was not charged the correct price I'd have concrete proof. Fortunately everything was correct so no worries for me.

Soda vending machine, maintained by our own personel. Most likely bought the machine at a Costco or something likewise. Sterling, VA

This was a valid charge on our card for $10 for a coin operated dog washing station in San Diego.

I am pretty sure this charge came from the Farmer's Fridge vending machine in the 150 N. Wacker Drive building in Chicago. They authorize for more than the charge is actually for, so right now the charge is pending at $20.00 when I only spent $2.95 in the machine.

Mine was also from the Sprinkles ATM machine in Beverly Hills. Weird.

Miami, FL. Machine says $1.50...does not accept cash!!!! Was charged $3 per soda. $12 for 4 sodas is outrageous. Hotel says they aren't responsible to call number on the machine!! No number on machine. Un-freakin-believable

Looks like it is for random photo booths around bar's in Los Angeles. Took me awhile to work it out but the dates add up

Mine was from a driving range golf ball dispensing machine at Whispering Pines GC in Myrtle Beach, SC.

I was reading through these posts racking my brain as to where on earth a $10 charge for something like this could have come from. On my statement it reads: CHKCARDUSA TECHNOLOGIES VENDIMALVERN PA ... after a solid 15mins and finally seeing someone else post that it could be for ANYTHING where you swipe your card, I remembered the self-service dogwash i visited on Sunday. Crisis averted.

Snack Soda Vending Seattle WA - reads a "Fast Food Restaurant" on bank statement.

Purchased 2 item from a vending machine at my work place using a debit card. The money has already come out of my account showing from canteen vending in Ky. Then a couple days later 2 more charges come up from Canteen vending in PA. Seems like a scam.

Location: Triton College, River Grove, IL Cash price is a $1 which is not noted on many of their machines. If you use a credit card, price comes out to $1.35, which is also not clearly marked on their machines. The customer will find out about this AFTER the purchase has been made. This is a tactic used by many gas-stations, who like to charge a higher prices for "convenience of using a credit card". I was overcharged by roughly $10 by Snack Soda Vending who's financial offices are located in Malvern, PA. The $10 wasted with Snack Soda Vending could have been used at a reputable restaurant for a decent meal. This is not a problem with me, but if companies like Snack Soda Vending and others like to make money by nickel & dime-ing their customers, then they should at least include BOTH CASH & CREDIT prices on their machines. 2012 PJP

Automated carwash

In my case it was for a Dog wash machine in San Diego at a Car wash station

I see some reports above are from automated Golf Ball dispensers. I used for the first time one of those today. I hope that is what it is about. I will keep an eye on the charges. FORE!

We were puzzled by $10 charges to "snack soda vending". After a fair amount of detective work , we realized it was a legitimate charge for an auxilary pet washing service associated with the local favorite car wash. Bruno, our Boxer would like to see that service shut down , but it is cherished by the rest of us. Mystery solved.

Called USA Technologies (which owns Snack Soda Vending Malvern PA), they stated the $5.00 charge was because they pre-authorized the card when swiping, that the charge will drop off the account after 2-3 business days!

$3.00 dog tag vending machine in Redwood City, CA. i was correctly charged, just forgot

These are not fraudulent charges they can be from anything where you swipe your card from a carwash to an actual soda machine it's just the company that is in charge of the card reader

Airport vending machine... This charge came from the Los Angeles Airport, so yours may not have been in PA

I was charged 6 $5 fees for getting sodas for my kids at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. The sodas were $1 each. This is bogus!!!

Mine was in the PHX Airport vending machine. Mine was acurate but always drives me nuts why they say MALVERN PA

My charge was from a golf ball dispenser at the driving range at Coonskin Park in Charleston, WV.

Automated golf ball dispenser at Tee Time Driving Range in Manitowoc WI.

Vending machine i bought chips which were 1.00 and it charged me 50 cents more than the actual cost. I will go in next week when i have time if it doesn't fix it self and complain. It was at my local community college.

You need to give more information on the credit card charges. I finally figured my out. It was for washing my dog.

I noticed my bank was send my text and It is saying "VEND AT AIR SERV MALVERN,PA", I was NOT in PA location. and charged at $1.25 taken out of my bank and someone skimmed or server has hacked. I am going file at BBB fraud business that what was location "USATECH". Plus I don't like the vend machine's and that soda, etc. cause someone would put in the SKIMMER SLOTS on any VEND MACHINES!!

Dog Wash in Topeka, KS charges $8.00 for credit card, $5.00 for cash. Most times cc machine doesn't work. So get charged $8.00 and then machine doesn't work so get nothing, so far Orscheln Farm has refunded my $$$. Not their fault, they rent space to this vendor. Remember to take cash this is best dog wash in Topeka.

This is from a Vending Machine that could be anywhere in the US but the company is based out of PA.

Fraud. There is a very good chance your credit card has been compromised, call your card issuer immediately and dispute the charge and cancel your card(s).

Swiped card for ice out of a remote ice dispenser machine and it $2 for the bulk vending. My card was charged $11 for this! I hope it clears as the original charge only, but will not know for 3 days. Maybe cash is the way to go it seems.

For me this was a charge from a photo booth at Sheffields, a bar in Chicago.

Complete bogus $3.50 fee. Total cost was $5.00 for a $1.50 soda from a vending machine in a Rest Area/Pit Stop 20 miles from Madison, WI.

It seems that the company that operates the credit card swipers on many vending machines around the US is located in Malvern, PA, and the charge for whatever you bought is charged to that location, regardless of where you bought it. It is correctly charged, if you take into account the 10 cent credit card fee that seems to be charged every time I use it to buy a $1.25 M&Ms and get charged $1.35.

Three of these showed up on my statement. I finally figured out it was from an automated ice machine. I swiped my card three times to get three bags of ice.

I was at a children's hospital in MN when I was duped into buying garbage food from the vending machine...(is it the vulnerability of being at a children's hospital??) So not only are you stressed because your kid is recovering from surgery but then you have to deal with the wrong amount on your c/c because you were forced to eat crap from a machine in the first place!!! I have already disputed this with my bank and now would like an explanation as to why the machine states the price is $1.50 but your charged $2.50 the interesting part of it all is it came in pending as the correct amount. But when it posted it was more than it was suppose too be. Seems petty but if they did this to let say a million people they would be millionaires!! I have reported them to my bank and now i am going to report them to the hospital...hopefully this vending company scamming off vulnerable people will be put out of business!! Not cool...do not use vending machines at Children's Hospitals of Minnesota (Minneapolis Campus)

Amtrak vending machine at King Street Station, Seattle WA

Photo booth at Ace Hotel Palm Springs.

I still have a 5.00 pre auth on my checking account you see i kept looking at the price and inputing it instead of the code for the item that i wanted so i did another transaction with my card please refund that 5.00 charge back to my account.
