I was charged 19.95 on my last credit card statement by TransUnion who apparently is scamming people for charges at various amounts monthly under $20 each. They got my personal information because I applied for my "free" credit report.

What is it?
Following up on my post from a few days ago. Be VERY careful with these guys. After calling them and inadvertently giving them my SS# (they ask for it as a means of pulling up your account info), yesterday I received a phone call from some "company" claiming to offer insurance. When I answered the phone the person just said, "Felix?". If you know how the scam goes, I was supposed to say, "Yes". That way they'll have a voice recording of me saying, yes as verification when they apply for credit under my name. I didn't answer, yes. I just asked who's calling. The lady further went on to say, "Everyone needs to have insurance, right?" further trying to get me to answer, yes. I abruptly told her I wasn't interested and hung up. Now, I can't prove that this call was related to my call to 1-800-493-3232 last week, but I have a feeling that it is. So, be very careful if someone calls you and just says your name as a greeting. Do not say, yes. Just say, "Speaking" or 'Who's calling?". These scammers are very tricky so stay vigilant.
On a side note, I called the number on my statement a separate time, asking where they are located. The lady said she couldn't disclose that information by law. First I ever heard of something like that. What company can't give their location?
Is Tru Credit which appears as TransUnion on my statement. They seem shady. I called the number on my statement and the lady wanted my SS# to look up my account. Then she asked for my security question which she said was my mother's middle name then she read the last four digits of the credit card they were charging which wasn't my credit card number at all. When I told her she said, "Oh, well what is your credit card number?" That's when I put a stop to the conversation. How could they be charging my credit card yet not have my number?? Seemed like they were trying to collect as much information as they could. I called them to get to the bottom of why they were charging me for something I didn't authorize but came away worried that I'd now given a scam company too much information. My full name, SS# and mother's middle name because I thought it was actually TransUnion. I looked them up further and Tru Credit claims to be fully owned by TransUnion but I'm still concerned.
I eventually wound up calling my bank and having them cancel my old card and replace it with a new one with a different card number. My bank also graciously agreed to refund me the amounts that had been charged since December 2016. Still, I think I'm going to put a fraud alert on my SS# just in case these crooks try to obtain credit using my personal information.
I was charged $19.95 per month as well. I called my credit card company who told me that Trans Union has been signing people up unknowingly for recurring monthly charges when they request a "free" credit report. My credit card company gave me the number to call to cancel the payment (1-800-493-3292) and got a rude lady from TransUnion who wanted lots of personal information from me including SS#, zipcode, date of birth, email, full name, etc to "confirm" my account. I somehow ended up only providing last 4 of the SS#, fake zipcode and fake email and got her to cancel the recurring payment. I don't think they're actually checking any personal information on you aside from SS# since the info I provided wouldn't have matched what was on my account. It was more like they were collecting information to sell at a later time. Don't request a credit report from this company!! They're a total scam. I used a different company to get a credit report in past (don't remember the name now) and this didn't happen.
It is fraud. I just spoke with my bank, and they are cancelling debit card and sending out another card.
THIS IS A 100% SCAM...WE ALL NEED TO CALL THE FBI AND REPORT THEM.THEY TOOK MONIES OUT OF MY ACCOUNT.....MY BANK CANCELLED MY DEBIT CARD AND HOPEFULLY I WILL BE CREDITED BACK THE MONIES.THESE PEOPLE ARE SO ROBOTIC AND RUDE PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND MAKE A REPORT
I did not authorize this actor my card being used
TransUnion charged my card $21.35 for something i didn't sign up for. They're signing people up and they know it's a scam. Charges should not allowed to be made.
I was charged $19.95 on my debit card by Transunion, despite the fact that I didn't sign up for anything, let alone a "subscription". I want a refund; to report a fraud; to cancel said "subscription". Please, can you help me?
I had charges at 11:00 am this morning I didn't even have money on my My card at that time In the morning also I am not even in San Diego CA
Same just happened to me for $1.09 in May and $27.95 in June. I reported it as fraud and now I have to get a new credit card.
Back in September I had a transunion charge of 19.95 on my account. It was fraud. I had to get a new card. Now they have found me again and theres another charge. Go directly to your bank. They will help.
I had the same issue with Trans Union as the person on 2/4/19. Monthly charges of $19.95. Since they have everybody's credit card information. They should not be allowed to make charges against credit cards.
